Hull start-up firm Sunseeker bags £2m of orders within months of launch

A Hull start-up holiday home manufacturer is making big waves in the market after it secured £2m of orders in its first few months of business.

Sunseeker Holiday Homes, based in Valletta Street, has lofty ambitions to turnover £10m in its first year of trading, and is growing fast since launching in June.

The company’s sister firm, Prestige Homeseeker, is the UK’s leading manufacturer in residential park homes and holiday lodges.

Sunseeker has now launched in Hull, as it looks to take a slice of the established market in the region.

Richard Moore, director at Sunseeker Holiday Homes, said: “I have known for many years the majority shareholder at Prestige Homeseeker, and wherever he was selling lodges people were saying to him, ‘when will you start building caravans?’

“He asked if I was in a position to start doing something in Hull. I have come from a sales background, but we found a factory and some of the key directors at the business have got experience from other manufacturers.

“We launched in June, and have secured more than £2m worth of orders. It has been a great start to business, and it is all looking very positive.”

Sunseeker Holiday Homes launched with six members of staff.

Today, that number has already grown to 30.

With an experienced team at the helm, Sunseeker is now looking to compete with some of the established, big-hitters in Hull and East Yorkshire.

Mr Moore said: “Our customer service director, Vanessa Marshall, has 25 years of experience in the industry, and our production director brought 30 years of experience to the business.

“Being in Hull means we have the workforce on our doorstep, which has a massive advantage. We are lucky to already have a very talented team.

“We launched the business with four ranges, and over the next 12 to 18 months will be looking to grow that.”

Sunseeker Holiday Homes featured at the Cottingham Parks Lodge and Caravan Show in September.

Mr Moore said the company had received strong feedback at the two-day show, and outlined an ambition to hit £10m turnover in the first year of business.

He said: “The short breaks market at the moment is booming, and as peoples’ expectations get higher, products are becoming more luxury.

“It has taken a lot of hard work to get to where we are now, but we have a good team, and things are looking very good.”
