Hull's top tech firms fighting for prestigious Yorkshire Tech 50 spot

Some of Hull’s top tech firms are in the running to be named as one of the most exciting companies in Yorkshire.

Business Cloud’s Yorkshire & Humberside Tech 50 vote will shine a light on the region’s best businesses which have technology at the heart of everything they do.

Leading Hull names including APD Communications, rradar, Sauce and Connexin are among those to have been named in an initial list of top tech companies.

That list will be whittled down to just 50 businesses, with the final ranking set to be published on Monday, September 9.

Hull legal disruptor rradar was named in the initial list.

It said: “Business Cloud, the online tech news website, is holding a vote to decide the most exciting tech companies in Yorkshire & Humberside.

APD provides mission control communications and control solutions used by more than two thirds of UK police forces (APD)

“They’ve drawn up a long-list of companies collated from nominations and research and we’re delighted to see that rradar is on the list.

“The final Yorkshire & Humberside Tech 50 rankings will be published at 9am on September 9. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed.”

Hull tech firms also in the running to make the final 50 list include ESP Group, which uses technology to improve over three million peoples’ transport journeys every day.

The company has worked with the likes of Transport for London, Stagecoach and ScotRail to implement technology which improves everything from ticketing and payments to bookings.

Emergency services software provider APD Communications has enjoyed a blockbuster 2019, and recently completed its move to new offices in the heart of Hull’s Old Town.

Its success has now been compounded as it vies to make the Tech 50.

APD has been joined by video advertising specialist Ash TV, smart city provider Connexin, and wearable health-tech business Moodbeam.

Music industry leader Label Worx, which supports artists and independent record labels with web services, and app specialist Sauce are also in the running to make the prestigious list.

VISR VR, which focuses on virtual and augmented reality technology, is the final Hull firm vying to make the final 50.

After the initial shortlist was released by Business Cloud, people were given the chance to vote on which companies they felt deserved to make the Tech 50.

A panel of judges, alongside those votes, will now decide on who will make the prestigious list.
