Hull KR have signed Huddersfield Giants winger Louis Senior on loan for the rest of the season - before making the deal permanent when taking up a two-year contract with the Robins from 2023.
The tall wideman, 22, has struggled for game-time at hometown Huddersfield this term, mainly due to the form of his twin brother Innes. He links up with the Robins this week with an eye on making his debut with them in the near future. A product of the Giants’ Academy, Senior makes the same switch as former Huddersfield team-mate Sam Wood.
He said: “I know Woody from Huddersfield and he’s only said good things about the place. He sold it for me really. Personally, I needed to change things up and I’m really happy to be joining Hull KR. I need game-time for my development and I want to consistently be playing Super League to reach my potential. This move is the perfect opportunity to build and put in some good performances to cement a first-team spot.”
Senior has not played for Huddersfield, ironically, since scoring a hat-trick in the win against Wigan on May 12. That took his tally to four tries in four games this term but he hopes to become more of a regular with the Robins. Senior said: “Whenever I’ve played at KR, they’re really loud and it’s a really good atmosphere there so I’m looking forward to that.
“Hull KR play an expansive brand of rugby. I can’t wait to be getting the ball in space and show the fans what I can do. I’ve already spoken to Willie (Peters) about his plans and I’m looking forward to working with him next year.”
Meanwhile, ex-Leeds star Brett Delaney has left his role as York assistant to become KR forwards coach until the end of 2023.
