Hull crash: Two men killed after car smashes into tree

Two men whose car collided with a tree in a busy east Hull street have died.

Humberside Police say one man died at the scene and the second died in hospital a short time later following this morning's crash in east Hull, Hull Live reports.

A black BMW mounted a kerb and hit a tree at about 7am.

Following the crash, Humberside Police said a driver and passenger both died.

The pair have not been formally identified although their families have been informed.

Emergency services including several fire engines and more than half a dozen police cars rushed to the scene before paramedics attended to the victims.

However they were unable to save the men from their injuries.

Police said: "Although the men have not been formally identified, their families have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this sad time.

"The road remains closed to allow for collision investigation to take place and for full recovery of the vehicle.
