Hull City receive potential injury boost ahead of Boxing Day clash with Nottingham Forest

Hull City boss Grant McCann has provided an injury update on his squad ahead of their Boxing Day clash against Nottingham Forest.

The Reds travel to the KCOM Stadium in search of a much needed three points as they look to continue their quest for promotion to the Premier League.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side are now without a win in their last five league matches, a run of form which has seen the Reds fall to 10 place in the Sky Bet Championship table.

Looking ahead to the crucial Boxing Day clash on Humberside, Tigers boss McCann says striker Josh Magennis has a “50-50” chance of being fit to face Forest.

Magennis has not featured for the Tigers since the 4-0 win over Preston North End in late November, with the centre forward suffering a torn hamstring in training three days later.

There were fears that Magennis could be out until the New Year, but the striker has given himself a chance of featuring against the Reds due to an extensive recovery regime over the last few weeks.

McCann is yet to decide whether he will risk including Magennis in his team selection against Forest, but has been buoyed by the news of having no further fitness concerns.

“Everyone is fine but we need to wait to see how Josh is,” McCann told Hull Live .

“He’s trained but whether we take a risk with him or not we’ll have to see.

“I’d say it’s 50-50. We’ve got to be careful with hamstrings. He’s not really done anything like this before so we’ll see how he comes through today.

“He’s been out on the grass for the last week but it’s whether or not we take a risk.”

McCann continued: “We have what we have at the minute.

“The boys have been great. They’ve trained tremendously well in the last couple of days and looking forward to the game.

“We’ve just to make sure we keep everyone in a good frame of mind. We don’t need to be taking risks with anyone and losing them for a longer period.”
