Hull City crowned champions: Northern Ireland eyes are smiling as Tigers win League One title

There were plenty of Northern Ireland celebrations on Saturday as Hull City were crowned EFL League One champions.

The Tigers - managed by former international midfielder Grant McCann - earned a convincing 3-1 win over Wigan Athletic to seal their glory.

Current Northern Ireland striker Josh Magennis scored his 18th goal of the season in the 66th minute, while Gavin Whyte was brought on as a substitute in the game.

The victory, coupled with Peterborough United’s 3-3 draw with Lincoln City, ensured the Tigers will return to the Championship next season as League One champions.

Hull will receive their title at The Valley next Sunday afternoon when they bring down the curtain on the league season.
