Hull City boss Grant McCann has refused to be drawn on the club's interest in Bristol City's Sammie Szmodics.
Bristol Live understands that both Hull and Huddersfield Town are interested in taking the Robins' summer signing on a loan deal in January.
Szmodics has struggled for regular first team football at the Robins so far this season, making just three appearances since his move from Colchester United.
A loan move could well help the 24-year-old's development and give him more time to adapt to the step up to the Championship, yet McCann has refused to confirm whether his side are interested in the attacker.
"I’m sure Lee (Darnbrough, Hull City’s head of recruitment) is working hard behind the scenes and as soon as an agent phones you with a player, or you phone an agent asking about a player, sometimes agents can be a wee bit busy and put that into papers," said McCann to Hull Live.
"I’m sure you’ll see loads of speculation coming up from now to January so we don’t take too much notice of that.
"It’s speculation, it’s all it is. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of names linked to us between now and January."
However, Philip Buckingham, who covers Hull City for Hull Live, pointed out on Twitter that McCann tends to rule out any signings he is not interested in - suggesting that the Tigers are keen on Szmodics.
