Hull City beat Rangers to highly-rated Liverpool midfielder previously at Bristol City

Hull City have won the race for Herbie Kane, signing him on loan from Liverpool for the rest of the season.

Kane moved to Anfield from Bristol City as a youngster and was nominated for the European Golden Boy award in 2018, despite having yet to make a first-team appearance at the time.

He spent last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers, winning praise for his positive performances in League One.

Hopes were high that he would be able to move into the first-team squad at Anfield this season but he has so far made just two appearances.

That has led to him being made available for loan and, despite interest from Rangers, Kane opted to link up with former Donny boss Grant McCann at Hull.

He said: "I’ve been excited ever since I heard the news that the club wanted to bring me in on loan.

"It was nice to come in this morning and meet the lads and it’s great to be linking up with the gaffer again. It’s nice that he has the trust in me to bring me here.

"Going forward, hopefully I can play some games and help the team get to where it wants to be come the end of the season."
