The Football Association of Wales has announced it has rejected an approach from Hull City for Chris Coleman.

Hull are searching for a manager after Steve Bruce resigned in frustration at a lack of signings.

The FAW said in a statement: “The Football Association of Wales can confirm that it has received an official approach from Hull City FC for the services of manager Chris Coleman.

“Following discussions amongst leading figures within the association the approach has been rejected.

“Chris Coleman signed a new two-year contract in May 2016 ahead of the Uefa European Championships in France and the Fifa World Cup in 2018.”

Coleman took Wales to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 and said afterwards that he planned to leave after the World Cup in Russia in two years’ time.

One of Roberto Martínez and Gianfranco Zola is expected to get the Hull job, with the club hoping to appoint a manager on Wednesday.
