Hull City announce loan signing of Northern Ireland winger Gavin Whyte

Cardiff City winger Gavin Whyte has joined Hull City on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 24-year-old will link up with former Northern Ireland midfielder Grant McCann who is head coach at the KCOM Stadium.

Whyte has has played just seven games for Cardiff this season and was an unused substitute in last Sunday’s FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Hull boss McCann believes the former Crusaders winger will bring "pace, energy and directness" to his side.

"He likes to get the ball and run at people," McCann told the club's website..

“He’s a full international and had a good time in Northern Ireland, a really good time at Oxford and followed that up with a move to Cardiff.

“We’ve been searching for a replacement for Hakeeb Adelakun and he will bring real pace and directness to the front three.

“We’re delighted to get him and there was a lot of competition for him. We’re delighted he’s chosen us and he’ll get the fans off their sofas because he’s direct and likes to get at people.”

Hull City currently sit in second spot in League One, ur points behind leaders Lincoln with a game in hand.
