Hull City defender Jody de Wijs has promised that he and his Tigers teammates will be ready to take on Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day after being given Christmas Day off by manager Grant McCann.
Sabri Lamouchi and his Forest players will train on Christmas morning as they look to end their poor run of form in the Championship.
But Hull have been given the day off after McCann described his decision to drag his Doncaster Rovers players into work this time last year as the "worst decision of my life."
But de Wijs has promised Tigers fans that they will not pig out on pigs in blankets and mulled wine on the big day and that they will be ready to take on the Reds on Boxing Day.
“It’s another home game and hopefully there will be a lot of people coming to watch with it being Boxing Day,” de Wijs told Hull City's website.
“We’ll be looking to get another win but it will be difficult against a Forest team that is just ahead of us in the table.
“They’ll come here looking to show a good reaction after losing last weekend so we have to be ready for that, but we’ll also be keen to show what we’re capable of.”
