Hulk Hogan shared the voicemail he received from Donald Trump after his appearance at the Republican National Convention in 2024 during his final interview.
The conversation forms the basis of the new four-part Netflix documentary series Hulk Hogan: Real American, which also includes a surprise new interview with President Trump that was filmed before Hogan’s death.
The wrestling icon, whose real name was Terry Bollea, died of a heart attack in July 2025 at the age of 71.
In the audio message that Hogan plays, President Trump can be heard saying: “Hulk, it’s your all-time favorite president. I just wanted to tell you, you were unbelievable at the convention. Like, the talk of the town. We had, by the way, I don’t know if you heard, the biggest ratings they’ve ever had for any of these things by far. Fox had the biggest ratings they’ve ever had, and you were the star.”
Trump continues: “Nobody could do what you did, and entertain. We love having you on our side. You’re a winner, man. You’re a champ and a winner, and I think it was really good for you too, I have to tell you. Everyone was really impressed. Take care of yourself, thanks, bye.”

Elsewhere in the documentary, President Trump is interviewed at the White House about his long relationship with Hogan. The pair met in 1988 when Trump hosted Wrestlemania at the Trump Plaza hotel and casino in Atlantic City.
When Trump first appears onscreen, he notes: “I have a big Russia meeting going on.” He then goes on to describe how he became “friendly with the Hulkster... we had a good relationship, good chemistry.”
Hogan says in the film that he voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020, but only decided to become a public supporter following the attempt on Trump’s life in July 2024.
Regarding Hogan’s initial reluctance to take a political stance, Trump says: “He wanted to stay out of politics, and when they’d ask him a question that was about politics, frankly, he’d be sort of neutral, at best. He wanted to be politically correct, and he doesn’t want to lose fans. I understand that.... I think he regrets that.”
Hogan’s appearance at the RNC in 2024 made headlines around the world as he passionately endorsed Trump. As the president recalls: “He did the shirt-ripping, he did the whole thing, and the place went crazy.”
Trump adds: “Hulk was always very controversial. That’s okay, I’m fairly controversial. I think I’ve become less controversial over the years, but I’m fairly controversial too, but I don’t think Hulk cares about that, and I don’t care about that either.”
Hulk Hogan: Real American is streaming on Netflix now.
