Hugo Lloris thinks Liverpool were lucky against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League

Hugo Lloris believes Liverpool were lucky against Tottenham Hotspur in their match at Anfield on Sunday.

The match looked destined for a draw after Lucas Moura equalised in the 70th minute following Roberto Firmino's early opener.

That was until Trent Alexander-Arnold floated in a cross in the dying moments which Mohamed Salah headed towards goal with an effort Lloris himself could only palm back into the danger area onto Toby Alderweireld's shin and watch helplessly as the ball trickled across the line.

It was a poor save from the Frenchman and a mistake that meant the Reds snatched victory and moved two points clear at the top of the Premier League while Spurs dropped down to fourth with Arsenal overtaking them in the table.

Lloris told Sky Sports: "When you are a goalkeeper, you know the responsibility. It’s like this.

"Of course, you question yourself. The good thing is that you know there is another game in three days, so you need to switch off about [Liverpool] and prepare the next game. I think it’s the best way to forget.

"I tried to catch the ball twice but unfortunately, there was no bounce, it bounced straight to the shin of Toby [Alderweireld]. And then what happened happened.

"The luck was probably on the opponent’s side. It’s tough because we made so much effort to come back in the game. We had a few chances to score the second goal, but then on a set-piece we conceded this goal. It’s a bit sad for us."
