Hugo Lloris has claimed that Tottenham "lack ideas" on the pitch following their Champions League exit against RB Leipzig.
The Lilywhites lost 4-0 on aggregate and it could quite easily have been by more given the opportunities the German side squandered over both legs.
Apart from Giovani Lo Celso and Dele Alli efforts either side of the break, Jose Mourinho's men just couldn't create any other meaningful chances at the Red Bull Arena to make things tough for the hosts.
Lloris, who was at fault for both of Marcel Sabitzer's goals in the first half, opened up on his team's performance when speaking to the press after the game and claimed that the side could have "played all evening" and not managed to score.
"It was a difficult evening," he told RMC Sport (via Sport Witness). "You have to accept the opponent were simply stronger than us. In all the departments of the game, they were superior to us.
"It had already been the case from the first leg. They confirmed it in the return leg."
"We lack a few ideas on the pitch," added the Frenchman. "The solution was to score goals. But we could have played all evening…
"We were already having trouble creating scoring chances, scoring situations. It’s hard, but you have to accept it."
Spurs now face a major battle to seal a place in Europe's elite competition for the fifth successive season with only nine games of the league season remaining.
In-form Manchester United are up next at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon and Lloris has called upon the team to finish a disastrous season on a positive.
"It’s a difficult season. We hang in there. We try to do what we can but either the opponent is stronger or we lack success," said the World Cup winner.
"Above all, we have to turn quickly to the next game. We must finish the season as best we can and as high as possible. We will have time to focus on the next season."
