Hughie Fury: I'd fight Anthony Joshua in a heartbeat - I want to take over heavyweight division

Hughie Fury is desperate to secure the right to challenge Anthony Joshua by beating Kubrat Pulev in Sofia on Saturday.

Fury, cousin of former multiple champion Tyson, is fighting the Bulgarian in a final eliminator for the IBF title and victory will win the 24-year-old a place in the queue to fight Joshua next year.

Fury has suffered just one defeat in his 22-fight career — a controversial majority decision against Joseph Parker last year — and knows it won’t be easy fighting the 37-year-old Bulgarian, who has also lost just once.

He said: “People might ask, ‘What is he thinking fighting over there? It’s such a risk.’ But that’s not how I see it. For me, this is a massive opportunity and I plan to make the most of it.

“Joshua is the fight that is meant to be. I’d take it in a heartbeat.

"A couple of guys have ducked Pulev and that tells you he’s dangerous. But I’m prepared to fight anyone, anywhere. I want to take over the heavyweight division.”

Watch Pulev vs. Fury live on free to air Channel 5 from 9pm on Saturday, October 27. Hughie’s ring walk is expected to take place at 9.15pm.
