Hugh Jackman tests positive for COVID, ‘The Music Man’ canceled through New Year’s Day

NEW YORK — Hugh Jackman has tested positive for COVID despite getting a booster shot three weeks ago.

“My symptoms are like a cold, a scratchy throat and a bit of a runny nose,” Jackman, 53, said in an Instagram video. “I’m fine, and I’m just gonna do everything I can to get better ASAP. And as soon as I’m cleared, I’ll be back on stage.”

Jackman’s newest show, “The Music Man,” had been running previews but canceled all of them through Jan. 1.

The show is scheduled to formally open Feb. 10.

“All tickets can be refunded or exchanged at point of purchase,” read a post from the show’s Twitter account. “Performances will resume on Sunday, January 2.”

Jackman’s co-star, Sutton Foster, tested positive for COVID last week, leading to a much-applauded performance from her understudy Kathy Voytko.
