Hugh Jackman and wife Deborra-lee split after 27 years of marriage

Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-lee have ended their marriage “amicably” after 27 years.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE magazine, the couple said they felt “blessed” to have shared “almost 3 decades together” in a “wonderful, loving marriage”.

“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”

“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”

The statement was signed was signed off as “Deb and Hugh Jackman” by the pair, adding: “This is the sole statement either of us will make.”

The couple met in 1995 on the set of the Australian TV series Corelli and wed on April 11, 1996. At the time, Deborra-lee had already starred in 20 films.

They went on to have two children, Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18.

Jackman, 54, posted an emotional tribute to his wife on their 27th wedding anniversary in April.

“I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 years! I love you so much.

“Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage, and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart.”

Last month, Jackman joined Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at Wrexham AFC’s first game back in the Football League.

Jackman, known for his roles in X-Men and The Greatest Showman, posted photos of himself with the duo, who bought Wrexham AFC in 2020, on his social media platforms and said: “Finally snagged an invite. Thanks Wrex.”
