Hugh Grant reprised his character from Paddington 2in order to surprise a four-year-old cancer patient.
The Notting Hill star was sent a video of Henry, who has stage four neuroblastoma, teaching his dad Phoenix Buchanan’s dance to “Rain on the Roof” from Follies that features at the end of the 2017 film.
The clip caught Grant’s eye, with the 59-year-old replying with his own video captioned: “Greetings from HMP Wormwood Scrubs.”
“Hello Henry, Phoenix Buchanan here,” Grant tells the camera.
“I’m sorry that you’ve been locked up for so long in your house. But, you know, I’ve been locked up for the last five years, and the great answer is dancing, and can I say, your dancing is quite remarkable.
“I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart. I wish I could say the same about your dad’s dancing but alas, I can’t.”
Referencing the much desired pop-up book that led to Paddington’s treasure in the film, the actor continued: “Anyway I wish you all the best, and if you happen to see that pop-up book, do let me know. Bye bye Henry, ciao now.”
Additionally, Grant pledged to match a fundraiser for Solving Kids Cancer by Henry’s dad Graham, tweeting: “I will be honoured to match it. Phoenix B. Actor.”
