Hugh Grant slammed for being 'so rude' to Ashley Graham in 'painful' Oscars red carpet interview

Hugh Grant left Academy Awards viewers fuming on Sunday as he made things very difficult for Ashley Graham, who was interviewing him on the Oscars red carpet.

The Four Weddings and a Funeral actor appeared to not be very interested in the chat at the 95th Academy Awards as he proceeded to give short responses to the model's questions.

Kicking off the chat, Graham asked the 62-year-old about his favourite thing at the Oscars, to which he answered: "Well, it's fascinating...the whole of humanity is here."

The model then asked the actor what he was most excited to see at the ceremony but a confused Grant hit back that he wasn't particularly looking forward to any award.

Attempting to get something out of the interview, she continued: "What are you wearing?"

But, Grant simply replied: "My suit."

In a last-ditch attempt, she asked about his brief role in Rian Johnson's thriller, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery: "What was it like to be in Glass Onion? How fun is it to shoot something like that?'

"Well I'm barely in it, I was in it for about three seconds," Grant quipped, shutting her down.

"It still must have been fun though, you had fun right?" Graham replied but once again the actor mustered up an uncomfortable response and said: "Erm... almost."

Angry viewers took to Twitter to blast the actor as one wrote: "Why was Hugh grant so rude?? Shout out to Ashley for holding up the conversation. / getting through that #Oscars."

"Hugh Grant was mad rude on the Oscars carpet for no reason," another tweeted while a third said: "Ok that interview just now with Hugh Grant was painful. #Oscars."

Another shared: "Ashley Graham deserves on honorary Oscar for putting up with Hugh Grant. Don't walk the carpet if you don't want to talk about the actual event," and a fifth asked: "Is Hugh Grant trying to give the most awkward interview possible?"

Andie Macdowell and Hugh Grant reunited nearly 30 years after the release of Four Weddings And A Funeral (REX)

During the ceremony, Grant reunited with Andie MacDowell on stage nearly 30 years after the release of Four Weddings And A Funeral.

The duo presented the award for best production design, three decades after starring in Richard Curtis’s 1994 romantic comedy.

“We’re actually here to do two things,” Grant said. “First is to raise awareness about the vital importance of using a good moisturiser.

“Andie’s been wearing one every day for the last 29 years, I’ve never used one in my life. Still stunning,” he said, gesturing to MacDowell.

“Basically a scrotum,” he said of himself, which was met by laughs across the Dolby Theatre but his co-star hit back: "What are you doing?”

The second thing, the duo went on to clarify, was to present the award for best production design – which went to Netflix’s All Quiet On The Western Front.
