Hugh Grant has lent his support to agent to the stars Michael Foster’s bid to become a Labour MP in Cornwall.
The Four Weddings and a Funeral star recorded a video message for his former agent, who represents Chris Evans and is standing in the constituency of Camborne and Redruth, which is currently a Conservative seat.
Grant explains why Foster would make a good MP – hard working and dedicated, that’s “quite rare” in politics, says the star – he also reveals why Foster no longer represents him. “I once caught him naked in the bath.”
How Grant’s message goes down with voters in the West Country may depend on what they think of him and his work. Foster will be hoping they think Notting Hill and not Nine Months. Over to Hugh…
Hello this is Hugh Grant with a message for the people of Camborne and Redruth, a part of the world I like very much by the way.
Michael Foster … used to be my agent. All I can tell you is that although I had to get rid of him as an agent, because I once caught him naked in the bath, and I couldn’t take him seriously after that, he was a very, very good agent and he’s a very good man, honest, hard working, very dedicated to his causes.
If that’s the sort of person you are looking for in an MP, and in my experience of politics over the last few years that’s quite rare, go for him.
And just in case you are wondering, Grant says he is “not particularly a Labour person, I’m not a Tory person, I’m just telling you he’s a good man”. Must be Lib Dem then.
