Hugging machine reunites families at Cork nursing home after months apart

A Cork nursing home's residents and staff are over the moon as the hugs can finally be rolled out again thanks to a new machine.

There was delight around Cramer's Court in Kinsale after CSP provided them with the great innovation that gets allows people to embrace safely.

The home said the arrival of the machine was "very emotional" and there were plenty of tears and smiles, Cork Beo reports.

It's clear the hug-a-thon 2000 is already making a really big difference.

Footage shows residents getting fitted in the large sheet of plastic as a visitor on the other side does the same.

The gadget brings the pair together whilst keeping the germs apart.

In one video, Julie demonstrates the new sheet as she gives a big hug to a staff member they pretend is "Ian, her long lost son" who she's not seen in months.

After that there was an orderly queue as people couldn't wait to give it a go.

In another clip, resident Declan got to embrace his daughter for the first time since the start of March with one resident joking "he's kissing the plastic and everything".

Next comes Maureen, whose also over the moon as her grandaughter greets her on the other side.

You can watch all the heartwarming videos on Cramer's Court Facebook page.
