Hugely popular 'Psychology of Serial Killers' talk coming to Bristol

A fascinating event coming to Bristol this summer will give people the chance to find out more about some of the world's most notorious serial killers.

The Psychology of Serial Killers, which sells out wherever it takes place, sees expert forensics lecturer Jennifer Rees explain how serial killers are classified.

In the talk, Jennifer explores the different categories of serial killers using case studies to illustrate each one, while debunking common myths - and you're bound to be surprised by what you learn.

What are the differences between serial killers who are motivated by lust such as Dennis Rader, the self-proclaimed "BTK (blind, torture, kill) Killer", and visionary killers such as David Berkowitz?

You will investigate the phenomenon of killer couples such as Fred and Rose West and Moors murderers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, as well exploring the folie à deux syndrome, commonly known as shared psychosis.

Jennifer will also discuss the typical differences between male and female serial killers, again using case studies to illustrate.

Have you ever wondered why women fall in love with known serial killers? This will be covered as Jennifer discusses the clinical knowledge surrounding why serial killers gain admirers, fan mail, and even spouses following their atrocious crimes.

It would be fair to say The Psychology of Serial Killers is not for the faint-hearted, but for those interested in what motivates serial killers it promises to be an eye-opening and enthralling event.

The event is due to take place at the BAWA Ballroom in Filton on June 27, with tickets costing £19.
