A surfer was left shocked after spotting a huge sunfish off the coast of Langland in Gower.

Ocean sunfish (or Mola Mola) are giants of the sea can weigh as much as a car and are usually found in tropical waters.

It is not the first time these huge creatures have been spotted in the Welsh sea.

On Wednesday, June 24, a family were stunned when they spotted the world's largest bony fish off the coast of Mumbles during a fishing trip.

One was also seen off the coast of Dorset two weeks ago.

It's the second time in little over a week that a sunfish has been spotted off the coast of Wales (Rhys Morris)

Talking about the encounter 33-year-old Rhys, who lives in Killay, said he had never seen a sunfish before. "I was surfing and one of the boys could see it so I went back to shore to get my GoPro. The fish just popped up.

"It's not every day I get to see one of them in the sea while surfing. It's pretty cool to be honest. It was so close to the shore."
