An enormous moon will beam down over Scotland tonight in a spectacular sight for skygazers.
August's ' sturgeon moon' will shine its brightest on Monday night when it reaches its peak - and it's not an event to be missed.
The eighth full moon of the year takes its name from Native American folklore when tribes would catch sturgeon fish in the river during the month of August.
The full moon also goes by other names, including the 'Barley Moon,' 'Green Corn Moon', 'Fruit Moon' or 'Grain Moon', as it is also sometimes referred to in the UK.
It may even appear a stunning red or pink, due to the hue it takes on during summer sunsets.
London’s Royal Observatory Greenwich in London said: “North American fishing tribes called August’s Full Moon the Sturgeon Moon since the species appeared in number this month.
“It’s also been called the Green Corn Moon, the Grain Moon and the Red Moon for the reddish hue it often takes on in the summer haze.”
Scotland is set to be overcast tonight with rain clouds set to roll in tomorrow morning - so it might be tricky to spot.
However, the moon is set to look spectacular all through the start of next week, so the weather could clear up.
