Huge stretch of major Glasgow road to close this week for resurfacing

Drivers are being warned to prepare for disruption in the north west of Glasgow next week.

A stretch of a major road in the area will close for resurfacing works repairs starting this Wednesday (June 12).

The works will take place from 9am to 5pm each day from Wednesday (June 12) to Thursday (June 13) and Sunday (June 16) to Monday (June 17).

Firhill Road will be inaccessible between Garscube Road and Murano Street during that period.

The council expects delays on the roads due to the volume of traffic which usually passes through the route.

A statement reads: "Delays are anticipated, especially at peak times.

Local access will be maintained at all times."

Diversions will be in place on the following roads:

Northbound - Garscube Road – Possil Road – Saracen Street – Balmore Road – Stronend Street – Panmure Street – Firhill Road.

From Firhill Road Southbound Garscube Road – Murano Street – Bilsland Drive - Maryhill Road -

Garscube Road- Firhill Road.
