Huge street event celebrating Liverpool's community services coming to city centre

A huge street event celebrating Liverpool's community services has been announced.

'Come Together in the City' is a celebratory street event which will take over Williamson Square next week.

The daytime event will see Liverpool community services and local organisations come together to showcase the range of work they have achieved during the coronavirus lockdowns.

The celebrations kickoff at 9am, with Mayor of Liverpool Joanne Anderson opening the event.

Each organisation will have a designated outdoor stall allowing them to provide information to visitors about the services they each offer.

Throughout the day there will be welcoming spaces for members of the pubic who require any assistance. They will be able to confidentially make any disclosures, and access any information concerning self-care.

Come Together in the City aims to promote community services, raise awareness, and give organisations the opportunity to show off work achieved during the national lockdowns.

Organisers also hope the event will highlight the significance of community, while also celebrating the end of the coronavirus restrictions.

A whole host of entertainment is also on the cards, including live music and performances.

Performances from Asking For It Exhibition, Self Love Lydia, and Dance for Plants are all taking place throughout the day.

Live music performances from Pixey, Stealing Sheep, Nature Boy, are also on the line-up, as well as DJs from local radio station SVARA radio.

Other performances include Baltic Boxing, Global Grooves and Rhythm Sport.

Come Together in the City is set to take place Monday, August 9.

The event will begin at 9am and finish at 5pm.

Taking place at Williamson Square in the city centre, the celebrations are free to attend. For further information, click here.
