A gaping sink hole has emerged on a Hamilton street.
Scottish Water are working with council workers after a large section of road appears to have caved.
It was caused by a collapsed sewer pipe on Chriss Avenue in Eddlewood.
The street was cordoned off last night, with residents forced to use alternative routes for travel.
The hole is in the middle of the road and near to the junction at Newlands Drive – a normally busy route for motorists.
Nearby residents have been notified, however South Lanarkshire Council confirmed it should not pose any problems for school transport.
A diversion route is expected to be signposted in due course.

The local authority was made aware of the hole yesterday and confirmed an emergency inspection had taken place.
Head of roads and transportation Colin Park told Lanarkshire Live: “I can confirm we were alerted to this issue last night (Monday) and a team attended the area to carry out an emergency inspection.
"They put safety barriers in place to cordon of the area where a section of roadway has collapsed.
“We are currently liaising with colleagues in Scottish Water to carry out a more complete assessment and to establish a plan of action.”

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Further investigation work is being planned for what would appear to be a collapse on a nine-inch sewer pipe in Chriss Avenue, Eddlewood.
"The area has been cordoned off and made safe. Once a CCTV survey has been completed, appropriate action will be taken.”
