Huge search underway for boy missing in River Dee at Chester

A search is underway for a teenage boy who went missing in the River Dee.

Emergency services were called to a major incident near the river in Handbridge, Chester at around 2.30pm on Thursday, July 22.

Police received reports a teenage boy had gone missing while swimming near Lower Park Road.

A police helicopter has been seen circling the area up and down the river and a search and rescue team are there, while air ambulance, ambulance, police and fire crews are in attendance.

The riverbank and Queens Park suspension bridge have been closed and people are advised to avoid the area while the search continues.

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 1043545.
