Huge search underway after 'person spotted in River Bollin' in Prestbury

A major search is underway to find a person spotted in a river in Cheshire.

The person was seen in the River Bollin near to The Bridge Hotel in Prestbury at around midday today (Sunday).

A concerned member of the public contacted the police.

A large search is now being carried out by the emergency services.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Cheshire Constabulary.

A spokesman for the force, said: "Shortly after 12 noon on Sunday, 23 February a concerned member of the public reported to police that they believed that they had seen a person in the River Bollin near The Bridge Hotel in Prestbury.

"Emergency services are in attendance and an extensive search is being carried out in a bid to find the person.

"Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Cheshire Constabulary on 101 quoting IML 644319, or give the details via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/ro/report/ocr/af/how-to-report-a-crime/." 

Witnesses have said the road over the river has been cordoned off by police as the search is underway.
