Huge search launched after 10-year-old boy from Wythenshawe goes missing in Cheshire

A 10-year-old boy from Wythenshawe has gone missing in Cheshire.

A huge police operation is underway in Styal to find missing Lewis Edwards, who has not been seen since Monday night (July 29).

The schoolboy left a house on his bike on Styal Road at around 7.30pm.

Officers later found his bicycle on a footpath in the Styal area.

Lewis has links to neighbouring Wythenshawe. Police believe he could be heading that way.

He is 4ft 6, of slim build and has short, dark blonde hair with two stripes shaved onto the side.

Neighbours are being asked to check their gardens, garages and sheds in case Lewis has been staying there overnight.

Residents said there was a large police presence on Hollin Road at the junction with Styal Road.

Numerous police cars, search and rescue teams as well as the police helicopter were seen in the area.

Chief Insp Jez Taylor, who is co-ordinating the search for Lewis, said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned as Lewis has not been seen since yesterday evening.

“He has links to the Wythenshawe area, and he may be travelling in that direction.

“Searches are currently ongoing, and residents are asked to keep an eye out for Lewis and check their gardens and outbuildings in case he has been staying there overnight.

“If you have any information as to his whereabouts please contact the team here are Cheshire Police.”

Anyone with any information into Lewis’s whereabouts is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number IML-471266.
