A huge search and rescue operation was launched over fears that a missing person was in the River Mersey.
Emergency services were called to Armstrong Quay, just off Riverside Drive, shortly before 7.30pm, on Wednesday.
Crews from Merseyside Fire and Rescue, Crosby Coastguard and the ambulance service were told that the person they were looking for had possibly been seen in the area.
After arriving at the scene, the Coastguard Operation Centre were informed that Merseyside Police had found the person in another area of the city.
The incident was stood down once the person was discovered safe and well before details of the operation were issued by Crosby Coastguard.
On Facebook, the coastguard said: "HM Coastguard Crosby were tasked along with other emergency service personnel from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service to assist with a search for a missing person possibly in the area of Armstrong Quay in Liverpool L3.
"Once the Coastguard rescue team arrived at scene of incident further information was received from CGOC (Coastguard Operation Centre) that the person had been found safe and well at another location by Merseyside Police.
"As our assistance was no longer required Crosby Coastguard Rescue team was stood down from tasking and returned to their station."
