Huge Russian convoy outside Kyiv is 40 miles long, terrifying satellite images show

New satellite images show a huge Russian military convoy north of the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv that stretches for about 40 miles.

Ukrainians have been valiantly fighting every inch of ground since the start of the Russian invasion last Thursday but Vladimir Putin is throwing much more armoury and troops into the battle.

Kyiv and other cities have been under siege with shelling and street battles but Russia has been struggling to make significant breakthroughs.

Now a 40 mile long convoy, reported by a US private company, shows that there could be plenty more fighting ahead.

Maxar Technologies published the images and also said additional ground forces deployments and ground attack helicopter units were seen in southern Belarus, less than 20 miles north of the Ukraine border.

The Russian army has been trying to encircle the Ukraine capital while there are reportedly saboteur groups in the city who are trying to topple Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Ukraine has been receiving armoury from the West to help it defend itself.

And Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Tuesday that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had offered his country more support in the form of sanctions and weapons.

"In our call, Secretary Blinken affirmed that the US support for Ukraine remains unfaltering," Kuleba said on Twitter.

"I underscored that Ukraine craves for peace, but as long as we are under Russia's assault we need more sanctions and weapons. Secretary assured me of both. We coordinated further steps."

Casualties are rising on both sides with buildings blown up in Ukrainian cities and Russian troops killed with tanks blown up in stiff resistance.

Ukraine's ambassador to the United States said Russia had used a vacuum bomb on Monday in its invasion of Ukraine.

"They used the vacuum bomb today, which is actually prohibited by the Geneva convention," Ambassador Oksana Markarova said after a meeting with American lawmakers.

"The devastation that Russia is trying to inflict on Ukraine is large."

A vacuum bomb uses oxygen from the surrounding air to generate a high-temperature explosion, typically producing a blast wave of a significantly longer duration than that of a conventional explosive.

The Ukraine government has been pushing for the West to introduce a no-fly zone for Russian missiles, planes and helicopters.

Zelenskiy made the appeal in a video address, but did not specify how and by whom a no-fly zone would be enforced.

He said Russia had launched 56 rocket strikes and fired 113 cruise missiles in the past five days since beginning its invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

Zelenskiy accused Russia of committing war crimes and said it should be brought before an international tribunal.
