Huge relief for Clarke and Roles' harsh lesson - How Tottenham's 7 loan stars are getting on

There were mixed results for the seven Tottenham Hotspur players out on loan at the weekend.

New head coach Jose Mourinho will be keeping a close eye on all of them to decide which of them could have a place in his squad ahead of the 2020/21 season.

With Mauricio Pochettino having departed last week, those away from the north London outfit could view the managerial change as beneficial to their chances of securing a long-term future with the club.

A relatively busy summer of incomings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium resulted in the likes of Kieran Trippier, Vincent Janssen, Josh Onomah and Marcus Edwards all leaving on permanent deals.

While others left to get some first-team football under their belts this season.

Therefore, the Lilywhites currently have seven players out on loan - here's a look at how they have all been getting on around the world.

Luke Amos

It's been a mixed start to the season for the midfielder. After making his first QPR start against Stoke City at the beginning of the campaign, Amos endured a spell on the sidelines through injury.

He returned to the starting line-up following a few weeks out before the international, getting 62 minutes under his belt in a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough.

Played just over an hour at the weekend as the Hoops were beaten 2-1 against west London rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Jack Clarke

It had been frustration for Spurs' £6m summer signing as he was without a Championship appearance this season.

Until the weekend.

Prior to the international break it seemed he was getting closer to breaking into Marcelo Bielsa's plans as he made an matchday squad eight times in a row.

He finally got his chance as United beat Luton Town on Saturday afrernoon, coming on as a substitute in the 71st minute.

As reported by football.london, Tottenham do have a recall option to bring back Clarke in January if they believe the loan spell isn't working out for the youngster.

Cameron Carter-Vickers

Following a poor start to the season, Stoke City are showing signs of recovery and are now just a point from safety.

Unfortunately, this upturn in results has coincided with Carter-Vickers being left out of the starting line-up.

Dropped to the bench before the international break as the Potters overcame Barnsley away from home.

Didn't even make the matchday squad at the weekend as City beat fellow strugglers Wigan Athletic 2-1 at home.

Kazaiah Sterling

Injury has ruined the 21-year-old's loan spell with Doncaster Rovers.

He's not featured since September and has since returned to Spurs for treatment.

Anthony Georgiou

The 22-year-old continues to get more game time at Ipswich Town.

On Saturday he was an 66th minute substitute as his loan club were held 2-2 at home by Blackpool - a result which has left the side five points behind current League One leaders Wycombe Wanderers.

However, Georgiou and Ipswich do have a couple of games in hand.

George Marsh

Marsh was an unused substitute for the FA Cup match against non-league side Maldon & Tiptree as the Os lost 2-1 to their visitors in a cup upset.

And he has not featured in any of the two league games since - which Orient have lost.

Marsh is stuck on 10 appearances for Orient and has become a favourite among the fans.

Jack Roles

Arguably the best of Spurs' loanees so far this season.

His efforts for Cambridge United last month were recognised with October's PFA League Two Bristol Street Motors Fans' Player of the Month award.

Did have a spell on the sidelines which a minor injury which caused him to miss three games in succession.

Is back in action, but lasted just 38 minutes of the goalless draw with Carlisle United at the weekend. Although his early withdrawal was for tactical reasons rather than injury related.
