Huge RAF plane seen in sky above Glasgow as Airbus A400M Atlas returns to city

A huge RAF plane has been seen in the sky above Glasgow once more as the Airbus A400M Atlas has returned to our city.

The giant aircraft was circling the skies at around 2pm this afternoon, having made its way from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.

The massive four-engine turboprop plane operates as a tactical airlifter to deliver supplies or personnel.

A Glasgow Live reader, who was in Maryhill Park at the time, described the plane as an 'absolute humdinger', telling us: "I could hear the rumble from a distance and then when it flew overhead it sounded like it was right above me it was so loud even though it was quite high up.

"It's an absolute humdinger of a plane - the kind that makes you stop and just look up and follow it as it cuts across the sky."

We reported on the Airbus A400M Atlas adventuring in the sky around Glasgow back in May, when an eyewitness worried it was 'touch and go' as the low-flying plane performed military exercises, while the aircraft also made an appearance here at the end of August.
