Huge queues form at Primark and TK Maxx during Liverpool's first shopping Saturday since lockdown began

This week saw the return of non-essential shops across Liverpool, and shoppers have been quick to descend on stores.

Earlier this week stores such as Primark, Sports Direct and Zara saw enormous queues as shoppers rushed to get their hands products for the first time since lockdown began.

Throughout the week even more shops have opened their doors after being given the go ahead from the Government after weeks of closure.

Our photographers have been out and about in the city centre today snapping photos of the shoppers as they visit stores on their first weekend back open.

The excitement of being able to shop in physical stores continues into this weekend across the city centre, with huge queues forming once again.

Primark again saw large queues waiting for the chance to get inside, as well as TK Maxx, which had queues forming right back into Williamson Square.

Church Street was packed with shoppers, looking very similar to pre-lockdown Saturdays.

Many changes have been put in place throughout the city centre, as well as at retail parks, in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, including social distancing markers and one-way systems.

Across the city centre, shoppers will also find new floor markings reminding them to social distance and keep to the one-way systems now in place.
