Huge queues, camping chairs and big sales in Liverpool city centre on Boxing Day

Liverpool city centre was busy with shoppers once again today as the Boxing Day sales hit stores.

With the most festive day of the year now out of the way, many people headed into the city centre to get their hands on some end-of-year bargains.

Shoppers queued from early this morning to visit stores such as Cricket and Lush for the chance to get discounted products.

Some shoppers outside Lush were even spotted setting up camping chairs to wait in the queue.

Now that shops and restaurants are back open after England’s November lockdown, the city centre is bustling again, with shoppers often forming large queues outside stores.

While Boxing Day in Liverpool got off to a relatively quiet start, with queues for just a few stores, it picked up later on and the city centre was bustling with people doing their Boxing Day shopping.

Shoppers queued outside River Island, Next and more on Church Street, while others queued at Game and Zara.

Liverpool City Region was confirmed to be staying in Tier 2 restrictions this week, meaning shops, restaurants, salons and more are able to stay open - at least for now.
