Huge queues and crowds as Stranger Things ice cream van arrives in Liverpool

The Stranger Things ice cream van arrived in Liverpool this afternoon causing massive queues.

Fans of the hit Netflix series queued around Hawkins Street as they waited for the van and their free ice cream.

Fans of Stranger Things' new series will be familiar with the ice cream parlour Scoops Ahoy which has become a main backdrop during the new episodes.

From the show’s setting in Hawkins Indiana,  Scoops Ahoy  will visit 11 “Hawkins Roads” around the UK and Ireland, offering free ice-cream to all those who live there.

The upside-down Scoops Ahoy ice cream van, complete with eerie Stranger Things melodic chimes inspired by the soundtrack, features two sides - a 1980s ice-cream parlour in pastel pinks, blues and whites, and a dark side straight out of the famous Stranger Things ‘upside-down’ world.

The stop in the city today marks the penultimate outing for the ice cream van who will complete its tour of the UK in Dublin on Wednesday, July 17.

Customers who queued this afternoon were given the choice of ice cream flavours including gloriously retro Coke Float, Cherries Jubilee, Banana Boat and July 4th.
