Huge power cut in Prestwich affecting 500 homes

A power cut affecting hundreds of homes has been reported in Prestwich.

The incident was reported on Sunday afternoon.

Another power cut was also reported in an area of Stockport.

The electricity went off in around 500 homes in Prestwich at around 5.30pm, according to posts on Twitter.

Electricity North West tweeted about the incident, saying engineers were en route to fix the issue.

The post said: "We are aware of a power cut in Manchester, M25.

"This is affecting around 504 customers.

"Engineers are en-route to investigate the issue.

"Updates will follow once they're available."

A resident in Stockport replied to say the power had also gone out in the town.

She said: "Is this affecting Stockport too as we've just had a power cut on the whole street on SK4?"

A spokesman for Electricity North West replied: "Hi, it isn't but we do have a separate power cut in SK4 that our engineers are on their way to."

At 8pm, Electricity North West tweeted: "Update for the M25 Prestwich power cut.

"The engineers are still on site and have needed to make further repairs to the network.

"They will be getting everyone back on in stages and believe this should be done by 9pm."
