Huge pop-up Bristol event space to close

A pop-up alfresco venue in Bristol’s harbourside promises to go out on a high note when it closes at the end of the month.

Outdoor dining, drinking and entertainment space Outer Space comes to the end of its four-month season at Lloyds Amphitheatre after the August bank holiday.

Headed up by the team behind the Christmas Spiegeltent, Outer Space has hosted a wide range of performances from DJs, bands and cabaret acts over the summer months.

Diners and drinkers were able to book seats across 36 tables, choosing from a selection of seating options including VIP covered booths, a covered cabaret area and terrace deck, alongside deck chairs, picnic benches and hammocks left free for walk-ups.

A live show from Bristol drum ‘n’ bass veterans Kosheen on Thursday, August 26 kicks off the four-day bank holiday extravaganza.

The following evening, there will be appearances from Bryan Gee, Suv, Donovan ‘Bad Boy’ Smith and the Rampup Residents. The Saturday (August 28) is split into ‘day’ and ‘night’ sessions. The first session is a cabaret special with a drag show, circus, aerialist artists, a fire show and samba.

The evening has a funk, soul and disco flavour with Smoove and Turrell, Shaka Loves You plus cabaret performers.

On Sunday, the daytime session features DJ Food (Ninja Tune), Suv and Ray Mighty (Fresh Four) and Queen Bee.

The line-up for the closing session on Sunday evening includes live performances from Cut Capers, DJ Food, Gin Bowlers and DJ Suv.

Steve Meadows, founder of Outer Space, says: “We’ve put together four fantastic days of some of our favourite performers, bands and DJs that have performed at Outer Space throughout the summer, plus some incredible acts that we are super chuffed to have playing for what's going to be a fitting send off to an amazing season!

“We are so very proud to have supported Bristol culturally and been a part of everyone's journey throughout what’s undoubtedly the most challenging episode in most of our lifetimes.”
