Huge police presence at Free Palestine Leeds protests as officers patrol Briggate and use vans to block off streets

The 'Free Palestine' rally in Leeds has seen a huge police presence arrive as hundreds of people gathered to protest against the violence in Gaza.

Following the demo in St Peter's Square at 1pm today, scores of people marched across town to Briggate where another protest is taking place.

Videos posted on social media show a heavy police presence in the area with officers attempting to contain the demonstration and use their vans to block off the streets.

People can be heard chanting and many are holding banners and flags. One little boy was seen holding a placard that read "Stop hurting children".

Leeds MP Richard Burgon has also been spotted at the protest showing his support.
