Huge police presence as wanted suspect 'refuses to come out of house'

A huge police presence was in Wirral this afternoon after a suspect wanted by police allegedly refused to come out of his house.

Officers were called to Grange Mount, in Birkenhead, at about 1pm on Saturday afternoon.

The force said it was responding to a report of an assault and was led to an address on the street.

Once there though, officers said the suspect refused to come out of the house.

Officers spent hours negotiating with a male who was inside.

Pictures from the scene showed roads cordoned off as police vehicles were parked up outside.

After the long day, a spokesman for the force confirmed a man surrendered and walked out of the home.
