Police are at the scene of an illegal rave in Carrington this evening amid unconfirmed reports of a stabbing in the area.
A large number of Greater Manchester Police vehicles were reported on Mile Road in Flixton at around 9.30pm this evening, with some eyewitnesses saying there were 50 emergency services vehicles in attendance.
Manchester Road is currently closed between Partington and Carrington. According to eyewitnesses at the scene the rave appears to be around the water treatment centre in front of the paper mill.
One eyewitness claimed there were thousands of people in attendance.
There have also been multiple reports of a stabbing in the area - though these have not been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.
An eyewitness who asked not be named said: "There's something massive going on at the top of the Mile Road in Flixton.
"Huge police presence, and at least 50 or 60 cars all parked up. Roads blocked off, and about 100 people walking away from the scene.
"It's huge, whatever it is."
"It looked like a nightclub at kicking out time, it was incredibly busy."
The illegal rave at Carrington is reportedly one of a number that are taking place this weekend. There were reports this evening of up to 8,000 people gathered at Daisy Nook in Oldham for a large rave.
Pictures from the area showed a number of emergency services vehicles at the scene.
Greater Manchester Police have not responded to requests for a comment or any information about the incidents.
