Huge police presence and air ambulance called as road taped off for hours after 'serious crash'

Police have taped off a road in Tameside following a 'serious collision'.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash in Denton Road, Audenshaw, this afternoon. The road has been closed between the junctions with Shepley Road and Stanhope Street for several hours.

Images from the scene show a police officer taking photographs within the cordoned off stretch of road. Eyewitnesses reported seeing an air ambulance land in the area following the incident.

People are being asked to avoid the area while the road is closed. Bus services have also been diverted as a result.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Emergency services are currently responding to a serious collision on Denton Road in the Audenshaw area of Tameside. Road closures are in place and members of the public are asked to avoid the area.

"Anyone with information should contact investigators via 0161 856 4741 quoting 1484 17/09/22. Information about crime can also be shared anonymously via the independent charity – Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

They have not confirmed whether anyone has been hurt in the incident.
