Huge piles of hazardous industrial waste containing asbestos dumped near busy roundabout

Huge piles of hazardous industrial waste containing asbestos were dumped near a busy roundabout in Oldham.

The bags were left on land near Albert Street, Hollinwood, just before midnight on Thursday. (May 28).

Police have launched an investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The piles of rubbish were dumped near the busy roundabout at the bottom of Hollins Road.

Oldham Council's environmental service team has been notified, a post on the GMP Failsworth and Hollinwood Facebook page said.

Officers shared photos of the waste on Friday, saying: "This hazardous industrial waste was dumped on Albert Street, Hollinwood on spare ground opposite the business centre just before midnight yesterday.

"Amongst the waste is a large quantity of asbestos.

"This was near to the busy roundabout at the bottom of Hollins Road. Did anyone witness anything? OMBC Environmental Services have been notified."
