Huge pile of rubbish dumped outside Cardiff's City Hall

Fly-tipping is normally just found in remote areas where people are less likely to get caught.

But residents in Cardiff have woken up to find rubbish dumped outside one of the city's most famous buildings.

The large pile on the gardens opposite City Hall includes mattresses, wooden fencing, a sofa, broken doors and an old chair.

People at the scene are saying that it was dumped some time overnight but before 5.45am on Thursday.

One commuter said it felt like someone was making a protest, others speculated that it was a protest over the lack of recycling facilities in the north of the city.

Cardiff Council on social media said they had been made aware of the fly tipping incident outside City Hall and are "currently investigating".

A spokesman added that an enforcement team were on their way to the scene on Thursday morning.
