Huge new Championship prediction backs Leeds United for title and Bristol City and Nottingham Forest for play-offs

Last night's results have boosted Bristol City's chances of making the play-offs, according to a data model.

Data website Five Thirty Eight have created a model that statistically works out the probability of different outcomes in the Championship this season.

It is good news for the Robins, who are predicted to finish sixth in the table, one point ahead of Sheffield Wednesday after the Owls only managed to record a draw with derby County last night.

Whilst Wednesday are said to have a higher chance of making the play-offs - 33 per cent in comparison to City's 32 - the Robins are predicted to finish on 70 points, one point ahead of Garry Monk's side.

Elsewhere, Leeds United are predicted to storm to the title, finishing six points ahead of second-placed West Brom.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are said to have a 62 per cent chance of winning the title, and a massive 89 per cent possibility of getting promoted.

The Baggies are said to have a 27 per cent chance of winning the title, and a 69 per cent chance of going up.

Brentford, Fulham and Nottingham Forest take the other play-off spots.

At the other end of the division, Wigan Athletic, Luton Town and Barnsley are all tipped to be relegated.
