Huge multi-level driving range and golf entertainment centre given green light for Rutherglen

The very first three-level driving range and golf entertainment centre has been given the green light to be built in Rutherglen.

South Lanarkshire Council approved the proposals by Topgolf International, a global sports entertainment company, to build the multi-level complex on derelict land Cambuslang Road today.

The complex, which is to be located near the M74, is expected to create 350 jobs for Rutherglen, as reported by ReGlasgow .

As well as the driving range, the new facility will feature gaming areas, multiple restaurants and a 52-metre netting system enclosure.

Described as a "state-of-the-art golf, entertainment and social gather place that combines exciting gaming with upscale food and drinks", the huge facility will be the first of its kind in Scotland.

Topgolf, an American company, operates 54 venues across the US and a further four across the world.

Full plans for the huge complex included 72 hitting bays over three tiers, an open air roof terrace and bar with seating for 70 people, a sports bar, a lounge, an event space/banquet hall with nearly 100 seats, one drive-thru coffee shop and one drive-thru restaurant.

A 336-space main car park will also be built to accommodate the new facility.
