Huge mouse spotted in ice cream parlour window in stomach-churning footage

Stomach-churning footage shows a huge mouse spotted in the window of an ice cream parlour which caused passersby to scream and run.

The mouse initially appeared very still, stuck between the blinds and the window of a parlour in Pescara, Abruzzo, east Italy.

But suddenly it seems to burst into life and starts running, causing two terrified women monitoring its movements to scream and run away.

Local media said police along with the Service of Food and Nutrition performed a full inspection of the ice cream shop.

Traces of rodent were found and the shop was temporarily closed.

There was said to be no contamination of food but the parlour was closed in order for exterminators to work inside.

The shop appeared to be closed at the time of the incident, but the footage has gone viral.

The parlour is expected to remain closed until the extermination is complete.

According to local reports, mice have been a problem before in Pescara city centre and the Democratic political party has called for an intervention from the local council.

It reportedly said there were areas of the city which are 'invaded by rats'.

The Councillor for the Environment said the municipal authorities were checking every case.
