Huge military plane seen flying low over Leeds

A huge military plane has been spotted flying low over Leeds.

Eagle eyed residents caught on camera the moment it flew low over residential areas in the city.

Reports on social media have said the plane was coming and going from Leeds Bradford Airport all Thursday afternoon.

Mystery surrounded why the plane was flying so low, with people asking what type of aircraft it was.

RAF Brize Norton said their A400M Atlas aircraft would be taking part in training near Leeds (Facebook/RAF Brize Norton)

It's also been a while since people have seen an aircraft in the area, with flights on hold during the coronavirus pandemic.

RAF confirmed it wasn't the only location to be flying low, and that it was their aircraft in training.

A post on the RAF Brize Norton Facebook page said: "This afternoon/evening, our A400M Atlas aircraft will be operating in the vicinity of Leeds, Doncaster and Birmingham, whilst engaged in essential training.

"These are necessary, routine, flights and not connected with RAF support to the UK's fight against Coronavirus."
