Huge message on slag heap demands Jacob Rees-Mogg is kicked out of Parliament

An enormous message scrawled on the side of a towering slag heap demands that Jacob Rees-Mogg is booted from Parliament.

The words 'Get Mogg Out' appeared on a hill formed out of the residue of a former industrial site in Midsomer Norton in Somerset.

The large letters telegraph a strong message to the constituents of North East Somerset where Rees-Mogg is currently MP, Somerset Live reported.

The west country constituency has been in the hands of the Conservative politician since it was formed in 2010.

During the 2017 general election Rees-Mogg won the seat for a third time, beating Labour into second by 10,000 votes.

In recent years Rees-Mogg has become a nationally recognised figure for his tough pro-Brexit stance and Victorian gentleman demeanor.

His sometimes controversial behaviour in London - which included him l aying on the House of Commons' benches and suggesting the Grenfell Tower victims lacked common sense - clearly hasn't gone unnoticed at home in Somerset.

Reacting to the message Martin Whitman wrote: "That's beautiful."

"Remind me why has Rees-Mogg gone into hiding," Dace Keirle added, referring to the suggestion that the Leader of the House of Commons had been taken off the national circuit by Conservative HQ.

Others were more supportive of their MP.

Commenting beneath the photo on a local Facebook group Josh Collins said: "Desperate times.. probably the Lib Dem’s. Their tactics are embarrassing! With their fake polls, constant lies and rubbish through the door! Everyone vote Mogg to stay!"

Clive Parfitt said: "These people need to get jobs, way to much time on their hands."

John Davies said: "He'll be getting my vote."

Meanwhile an argument has erupted after four Lib Dem posters stuck up across from Rees-Mogg's home were pulled down.

The Tories condemned the vandalism and theft - acts they said were commonplace - but the Lib Dems said it was beyond the normal cut and thrust of pre-election politics.

A Lib Dem spokesman told the Local Democracy Reporting Service his party had around 250 signs up across Bath and North East Somerset, adding: “Across the two constituencies about 20 boards have been stolen or destroyed and 30 have been vandalised.

“The theft of four boards directly opposite Mr Rees-Mogg’s manor house took place in broad daylight on Monday (December 2). The householder’s stone wall was also damaged.

“It looks like our opponents are rattled by our campaign to beat Mr Rees-Mogg."
